WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE    It is the infallible word of God. Every word is inspired and authored by God and holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Tim 3:16-17, Heb 1:1, 2 Peter 1:21) The Bible is perfect, without error, and complete in the Authorized King James Version. (Ps 19:7-11, 33:4, Prov 30:4) The Bible is the final authority for all manners of faith and practice. (2 Tim 3:16-17)

GOD     There is one God. (1 Tim 2:5) That one God is composed of three persons, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. (1 Jn 5:7, Gen 1:26-27) God is eternal, having no beginning and no end. (Deut 33:27)

JESUS     Jesus is the Son of God (Mat 27:54) Yet he is the Son of man (Luke 9:56). He is God manifest in the flesh. (Jn 1:1-14, 1 Tim 3:16, Heb 1:8) Jesus was tempted in all points like as we are yet without sin (Heb 4:15). But He died for the sins of the whole world. (2 Cor 5:20-21, 1 Pet 2:24, Isa 53:1-6) He rose again from the dead by his own power (Jn 10:17-18) and He ever liveth to make intercession for man. (Heb 7:25, 1 Jn 2:1-2)

THE HOLY SPIRIT     The Holy Spirit of God is indeed, holy. It is not evidenced by foolish babbling or the immodest throwing about of ones body. The Holy Spirit is an equal part of the godhead. (1 Jn 5:7) The Spirit of God indwells the believer upon the moment of salvation. (Rom 8:9) It seals the believer in Jesus Christ and secures the salvation of the believer. (Eph 1:12-14, 4:30) It leads and guides the believer into all truth (Jn 16:13) and teaches the believer how to live. (Gal 5:22-23)

MAN     God created man in His own image. (Gen 1:26-27) Man was not made to sin but rather has a free will. (Gen 2:16-17) Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, chose to disobey God and therefore sin entered into the world and death by sin. (Gen 3, Rom 5:12) Man, in and of himself has no means whereby he can save himself. (Titus 3:5-6) The only way for man to be saved is to believe on the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 4:12, 16:31, Rom 10:13)

SALVATION     Salvation has never been by the works of man (Heb 10:1-12). Salvation is not deserved by man (Rom 4:4). Salvation is God imputing righteousness to man’s account the very moment man believes God and places his trust in the finished work of God’s Son. (Rom 4:1-4, Jn 3:15-18)

THE CHURCH     The church is not the building, it is the body and bride of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Col 1:24, Eph 5:23) The believer is placed into the church upon the moment of salvation. (1 Cor 12:13) However, the church is also the local assembly of the saints. (Acts 13:1, Rom 16:1, 1 Cor 1:2) The Head of the church is Christ (Eph 1:22). The authority of the church is the Bible (Rom 3:4). The leadership of the church is the pastor (1 Ti 3:5, Heb 13:17) Therefore, the church is not a democracy to be governed by the will of its members, but is to conduct its temporal as well as spiritual business in strict accordance to the Word of God.

THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH     We believe that it is the duty and responsibility of every believer to preach the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the world. (Mk 16:15, 2 Cor 5:17-21) And ultimately, to live a life that is holy and pleasing in the sight of God. (Rev 4:11)

THE RAPTURE     At a time unknown to man, Jesus will return in like manner as he went away. (Acts 1:10-11) We call this appearing “the rapture”. It is the time when Jesus appears in the clouds to catch away all the saints and take them to be with Him in heaven. (1 Thess 4:13-18, 1 Cor 15:50-58) This event must happen BEFORE the time of Jacob’s trouble or “The great tribulation”.

Meet our Pastor:
LUKE LOGAN

Luke was saved by the grace of God on September 19th , 2004, at age 13 and discerned his call to preach at the age of 18. In pursuit of his calling, he sought the perfect will of God through the leadership and ministry of his local church. He married Haley, the love of his life, on August 2nd of 2014. Serving together, they learned how to minister in many ways with a desire to do as much for God as He would allow.

Over the years Bro. Luke has served as Sunday school teacher, pulpit supply and lead ministries such as Public Evangelism, Jail and Nursing Home services. Alongside those things and with the support of wife, Luke was able to complete 4 years of training at North Georgia Baptist College, earning a bachelor’s degree in theology with a major in Bible. During this time, He and Mrs. Haley had their two children: Natalie and Elliott.

In October of 2021, after several months as interim, Bro. Luke was called to serve as pastor of Grace Baptist Church. As Ellijay natives and Gilmer High graduates, the Logan’s are privileged to serve the Lord in their hometown.
